Wireless home alarm kit for Bristol, tested before it reaches your door
Wireless home alarm kit for Bristol: designed around your house or flat, configured and tested before shipping, fitted with no drilling. Get my system proposal.
Bristol homes rarely fit a standard box. A garden flat carved out of a Clifton townhouse, a two-up two-down in Southville, a Totterdown terrace that is three storeys at the back and two at the front, a new-build flat on the Harbourside: each one has its weak spots in different places. Describe yours online, we design a wireless alarm for that layout, and once you order, we pair, configure and test every device before the kit is shipped, ready to fit.
Four Bristol homes, four different alarm plans
We do not start from a catalogue. We start from how your home is entered, overlooked and left empty.
The conversion flat
Georgian and Victorian houses split into flats share one front door and a common stairwell. Your own flat door is the real boundary, so it gets a contact with a shock sensor that reacts to someone working on the lock, not just to the door opening. Lower-ground and garden flats add the lightwell window and the French doors to the garden.
The Victorian terrace
Front door on the pavement, a long hallway, a kitchen extension at the back and a yard or garden that backs onto a lane or a neighbour’s wall. The rear is usually the way in: contacts on the back door and kitchen window, one photo detector covering the hallway and stairs.
The hillside house
On Bristol’s steep streets, the “ground floor” at the back can be a basement at the front. We map each level separately, and if the signal has to climb through thick stone walls, we add a range extender and test it on the bench before shipping.
The new-build flat
Fob-controlled entrance, concierge or CCTV in the lobby, a balcony and a parking space. Inside, the alarm protects the flat door and the balcony door, and a leak detector under the washing machine is worth adding in a flat with neighbours below.
Five weak spots we often see in Bristol homes
- Sash windows: beautiful, but older ones can often be eased open from outside. Each accessible sash gets its own contact.
- Basement lightwells: out of sight from the street, which is exactly why they are tempting. A contact on the window and a detector in the room behind it.
- The back lane gate: many terraces have rear access that nobody overlooks. An outdoor detector with a camera can watch the yard; keep it on your own property.
- The bike store or shed: in a city where so many people cycle, bikes are a common target. A contact on the shed door, linked to a range extender, tells you the moment it opens.
- The spare key culture: lodgers, cleaners, dog walkers. Give each one their own key fob or code instead of copying keys, and remove it from the app when they leave.

Living in a listed building or a conservation area?
Parts of Bristol, Clifton in particular, are full of listed houses and conservation areas. Because the indoor kit is fixed with adhesive and needs no cables, nothing is chased into plaster or cornicing. If you want anything on the outside, such as an external siren or a camera, check with Bristol City Council and, in a flat, with your freeholder or managing agent first.
Who gets the alert?
The VISAO kit is self-monitored: when a detector triggers, the siren sounds and the people you choose get an instant notification, with photos from the detectors that take them. You decide what happens next and call 999 if a crime is in progress. It is not a monitored service linked to Avon and Somerset Police; our guide to police response to alarms in England explains the difference, and if you rent, read which alarm for a rented flat.
The equipment is wireless Ajax hardware with encrypted communication, battery back-up and NF&A2P certification, the French benchmark standard for intruder alarm equipment. Our team has 17 years in the trade and has worked for brands such as Audi, Renault and Decathlon.
Questions from Bristol homeowners and tenants
Will it work through thick Bath stone or Pennant stone walls?
Old stone walls can weaken any wireless signal. That is why we ask about your floors and walls before designing the kit: if a detector is far from the hub, we add a range extender and test the link before shipping. The final check is done with you on the video call.
I live in a shared house. Can I protect only my part?
Yes. The system can be split into groups, so your flat or your room can be armed while the shared areas stay disarmed. Agree it with the other occupants and the landlord before fitting anything in common areas.
What if I move to another part of Bristol?
The adhesive mounts come off, the hub and detectors move with you, and we help you reorganise the zones remotely for the new layout.
